Working Together to Support Our Students |
The La Habra City School District has always experienced great support from the greater La Habra Community. Many community agencies provide support services and resources to our students and families. These agencies work together in the La Habra School District Education Collaborative established 10 years ago as the District applied for the “Together as a Community Grant” in partnership with the La Habra Police Department.
The Collaborative meets quarterly to coordinate services and programs available to support our educational programs. Our partners include: the Gary Center; Western Youth Services; Institute for Healthcare Advancement; Child Guidance Center; La Habra Police Department; La Habra Boys and Girls Club; and, representatives from our district Early Learning, Health Services, and Special Program Departments. We also partner with our local Police Department on several grant projects designed to deter our students from the influence of gangs and drugs.
Through these collaborations and others we have been able to provide our students and families a greater array of services than are available through our District resources. Some examples include: the Family Resource Center located at Las Lomas operated by IHA; North Orange County Community College District offering English as a Second Language Classes for our parents and community at Las Lomas and Washington Middle School. Our annual Literacy Fair is enriched by the resources from all our community partners that provide their resources to support the event. We are thankful for all the support we receive from our Community Partners as we educate students to become successful members of the La Habra Community. |
