As a new school year opens, we are filled with the excitement of a new beginning and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students.  Our teachers have participated in two full days of professional development in preparations for continuing our focus on the implementation of our research based initiatives.  Our support staff has been working over the summer to ensure that all preparations for the opening of school have been completed.  Our grounds, maintenance, and custodial staff have been working over the Summer to ensure that all our schools are safe and well maintained for our students. 
We continue to be faced with reduced and deferred income from the state.  Our negotiations with our Certificated and Classified bargaining units are unsettled.  During the summer, representatives from the District and Certificated bargaining unit participated in a Fact Finding hearing.  Currently, we are awaiting the report from our neutral fact finder who was selected by both the Certificated bargaining unit and the District.  While we have not reached a settlement with our Classified bargaining unit, we are scheduled to meet with a mediator early in September.  We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of our negotiations.
