La Habra Schools-Maintaining Focus

The La Habra City School District is dedicated to maintaining a quality educational environment that meets the needs of all students.  The fidelity to the implementation of our educational initiatives and maintaining a rigorous instructional program support our District focus statement: “Through the mastery of literacy skills all students will achieve at or above grade level in all content areas”.  Our unique K-2, 3-5, 6-8 school configuration supports the targeted focus on meeting the educational and developmental needs of students at each level.
We are on the cutting edge of implementing research based initiatives to meet the diverse needs of our student population.  Teachers participate in Professional Learning Communities to refine their practice in support of student learning.  Through the implementation of the Response to Intervention (RtI) model, students are provided the academic and behavioral support necessary to maximize their educational opportunities.  Our state of the art technology supports the educational program and three of our schools offer the MIND Institute’s ST Math program.
The importance of parents as partners in the educational process has always been a hallmark in La Habra.  Parents have an opportunity to provide input, voice concerns and keep abreast of current District issues at monthly Advisory and Information committee meetings with the Principal at each school site and with the Superintendent at the District.  These forums help parents, as well as District personnel, maintain open communication which supports understanding and results in meeting the needs of students.
We know we are providing all students a quality educational program by the steady improvement in student performance results.  Most recently, our efforts have been reinforced by having two California Distinguished Schools and a Title I Achieving School.
