Our Heritage is our Future! Look how far we've come...

Welcome to the 2011-12 school year. Our theme as we embark on what promises to be another exciting, meaningful, and productive school year is ‘Our Heritage is Our Future! Look how far we’ve come…’. It is a call to continue our legacy of commitment to ensuring that all students perform at or above grade level.

As a District we are committed to ensuring student success and we recognize that to be successful, education must be a partnership between the school and the family.  All our schools actively reach out to involve their families. In addition to the required parent committees, the La Habra City School District has a legacy of keeping parents informed. Monthly Advisement and Information meetings are held at the school and district level and provide parents the most current information on happenings in the District as well as solicit parent input on areas of success and concern.

LHCSD continues to celebrate a legacy of student success. In addition to rising test scores, La Habra City School District’s success is measured in our continued commitment to programs and initiatives that provide students with the instruction and support to achieve their potential.  We have always been, and continue to be on the cutting edge of implementing research based programs that are proven to make a difference for students.  Our students demonstrate continuous improvement and leave LHCSD well prepared for their high school careers.

While it is certainly true that we continue to be challenged by budget reductions, we are very proud of the fact that we are fiscally solvent and moving our District forward particularly in the area of technology. Through careful planning and collaboration we have been able to maximize our resources and upgrade our technology infrastructure and resources to provide our teachers and students access to state of the art technology to enhance instruction.

We also realize the importance of our students having a solid educational foundation and continue to provide an Early/Late schedule in 1st and 2nd grade and this year introduced Transitional Kindergarten classes at two schools. Our teachers receive ongoing professional development and support through our Academic Coaches and each school has Staff Development time built into its weekly academic schedule.

Let us greet 2011-12 with greatness and continue to share our time, talents, and efforts in order to prepare our students with the skills they need for the 21st Century. We value the dedication and commitment of our La Habra City School District community to providing our students an outstanding educational program.  Thanks for all you do every day for our students.
Sincerely,

Susan Belenardo, Ed.D.
