Parking Lot Safety

In order to insure student safety and a good flow of traffic, we need your help regarding Sierra Vista campus traffic patterns and student drop off points. WE ASK THAT REDUCED SPEEDS AND CAUTION BE EXERCISED WHEN APPROACHING THE SCHOOL ENTRANCE AND DRIVING IN THE PARKING LOT.

The bus loading zone in front of the school is for buses only. We ask EVERYONE to please cooperate with us in this request. Buses arrive at different times and there is only space enough for those vehicles.

Please use the parking along the curb on Whittier Ave. to drop off students before school and pick them up after school. You may use the lanes in the parking lot closest to the rose garden to drop off or pick up your children. The lane in the parking lot closest to Whittier Ave. is to be kept clear at all times, parking is not allowed in that lane. Students may also be dropped off behind the school on Dot St. or next to the school on Juanita St.

When dropping off students, please remember to have them walk on sidewalks and not cut across the parking lot or the grass.

During rainy weather, the best way to pick up your child is to select a location where you will wait and have your child meet you there. On rainy days many parents want to pick up their child in the parking lot and the traffic jam becomes a problem. Parents who pick up their children by arriving early and parking on the street in front of the school will have better results as far as getting their child in the car quicker and getting on their way sooner. Children should be told to meet you at a specific location or to wait for you in front of the office building. Please see parking lot map.

Transportation
Riding your bike to school is a privilege. Bicycles may not be ridden on school grounds at any time. Ride carefully to school. Walk your bike across school grounds and park it in the bike rack. Make sure to lock your bike. Never leave your bike at school over night.
All bicycle riders must wear a helmet at all times.

Students are not allowed to ride skateboards, scooters, skates, or Heelies to school or on campus at any time. Students are required to follow all school rules while walking to school or to the bus stop.

Whittier Avenue- Students should cross the street only at the crosswalk in front of the school or at the intersection of Whittier and Puente. Students should never cross Whittier Blvd. in the middle of the block. It is dangerous!

Dot Street- If you plan on picking up your child via Dot St., please note that students should be met by parents and not asked to run across the street to get in their car.
