Ladera Palma Qualifies as California Distinguished Schools Candidate |
Ladera Palma is one of 42 schools in Orange County eligible to be named a 2012 California Distinguished School. This year’s selection criterion focuses on schools demonstrating progress in narrowing the achievement gap for all students. Ladera Palma students’ exemplary performance on last Spring’s California Standards Tests resulted in a 58 point growth in their API (Annual Performance Indicator) score to 869. In addition, the API scores for all subgroups grew more than the state average, and closed the achievement gap.
Ladera Palma attributes its success to two District initiatives:
ExCEL (Excellence, a Commitment to Every Learner)
GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design).
A team of teachers is completing the application which includes describing the implementation of these two signature practices. Congratulations to Ladera Palma on their recognition. We are confident they will successfully complete the process and receive official notification. Ladera Palma was previously named a California Distinguished school along with Las Lomas in 2008 and Las Positas in 2010. |
