Enhancing instruction through the use of technology is instrumental in developing 21st Century learning environments. Our students must know how to access, critically evaluate, and apply information. Technology is the tool that will provide this opportunity for our students. In La Habra, we are excited to see the increase in technology available to our students and teachers in our classrooms.
All schools have a wireless infrastructure. Interactive white boards, projection systems, and document cameras are transforming the instructional program. Students are using 'Flip’ cameras to create and share presentations throughout the District on our “Show and Share” network to demonstrate their learning.
Teacher leaders are exploring the use of iPads in the classroom for record keeping and instructional applications. When available, classrooms have access to other mobile devices to support students' reading practice. Both Imperial and Washington Middle Schools have transitioned their computer classes to technology classes that emphasize the application and integration of technology in Science and other core content areas.
We continue to refine our expectations for using technology to enhance instruction. LHCSD is designing a comprehensive plan and time line for implementing technology throughout the district. |
